Being Real

2 min read
I had a wonderful opportunity to sit down with a group of I think around 17 young (and some a bit older) women.
We were there with a specific purpose in mind -- to attend a birthday gathering! We ate Thai food (fantastic), and super dense chocolate and peanut butter cake (caloric), and celebrated her turning "20 and 11."
All in all a great time!

But then things got serious.

To be honest, I really don't know who ever reads these journals. I'm not on as often as I was.
I don't submit as often either. Life happens. Messy, messy life.

Which brings me to my point.
What is a life worth living?

That's what the woman that was throwing this shindig asked us. We had our dessert (and coffee) and headed to her great room.
We picked a spot and settled in.
Then she hit us with that.

We are all Christian at this party, mind you. So we knew that she was going to speak to us about SOMETHING.
Hymns were sang, and spoken about. We talked about why these songs were sometimes hard to sing (which is a hard thing in itself to admit).
She really made us stop and think. "Am I living a life worth living?"

Is it family? friends? school? career? charities? mission work?!
No. It all came down to what we were focusing our life on.
We only have one and shouldn't our focus be just as singular?
Our eternal future was at stake here. Were we focusing on what was to come or were we wasting it away...

"You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:13

"Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume" Isaiah 55:6

Make your life worth living because one day it will be too late to "pour oil."
